HISTORY OF THE TAILORING

Among the benefits brought about by the opening at Villa d'Este of a Hydrotherapy centre by baron Ippolito Gaetano Ciano in the year 1856 , there was the employment of workers to be used for the new tourist service and the involvement of some local handicraft shop.
In the 1857 Pietro Orefice, born in Rovenna, just over 26, opened a tailor's shop in Cernobbio which selling a cow he had and giving up land properties he would have been entitled to by heredity right.
It was a begging of a family adventure continued by his son Cesare, who perfect his skill in the most renowned Milanese tailor's shop in those day, Prandoni's.
The Orefice family tailor's shop, well-know in the Grand Monde, raised the already high quality standars with Pietro, Cesare's son, who ran the shop through the two 20th century wars, to give way in 1948, to his son Lino.
If you run through the appointement book of Mr. Lino's tailor's shop in Cernobbio you realize the kind of costumers it had: names of crowned heads, stetesmen, internattionally famous stars, men of culture, artists, sportspeople and member of international jet-set.
Today, the baton has been taken up by Cleto, Lino's son, who since 1986 has been following the career of his great great grandfather Pietro, his great grandfather Cesare, his grandfather Pietro and his father Lino.
